As a child, family photographs captivated me. I enjoyed looking through albums with my parents and hearing my mom and dad reminisce happily about the people and events memorialized in the photographs. Now, as a parent, I continue to treasure those older albums as I share them with my children. I am also creating new albums that preserve the memories my wife and I are creating with our children, our extended family and our friends.
Every photographer’s development and journey is as unique as our images and styles. Rooted in warm childhood memories, my passion for photography blossomed as a result of my career as an educator. Photographing students discovering a concept, working cooperatively, or just playing captured my imagination. The best photographs evoke emotion, whether it be the sweet, beguiling smile of a spirited child, the bride and groom’s first dance at their wedding ceremony, or a tender moment between a grandparent and grandchild.
As a teacher and photographer living in the greater Washington, D.C. area of the United States, I am constantly seeking light in all its forms. Family, photography and teaching are my passions; when I am able to combine any of these three, I am really living in the light. The majority of posts on this blog will be photographs. I hope you enjoy the images and invite you to check-in frequently. Comments, suggestions and criticism are always welcome.
